This past year we launched the “Together, We” campaign, co-creating inspiring content, deepening relationships with artists and organizations, and utilizing campaigns as a core movement-building strategy.
For this campaign, CEL brought together independent filmmakers to create a series of 30 ads to mobilize a multiracial coalition and move folks from feeling cynical and fearful to feeling inspired and motivated.
“Together, We” turned up the urgency, excitement, and engagement amongst people who support protecting and expanding voting rights, climate justice, abortion access, and the freedom to thrive.
After 3 years of testing and experimentation, we affirmed methods of content production that best suited our audiences including, but not limited to:
1. Centering depictions of diverse characters in a specific region
2. Mobilizing mediums in our media that were more artistic or radical in their themes
3. Creating intersectional content to promote issue advocacy around key topics, such as voting rights and climate
4. Shifting lenses of trauma and poverty to narratives of joy and humor
